SCENT DETECTiOn DOG TRAINER COURSE
Steve has proven to be highly successful in the field of canine scent detection training. His services, for the training of individual dogs for a wide range of applications, are highly sought-after. The cost to an organisation for each dog and its handler/s’ training, ranges between approximately $40000 to $60000, depending on the specific application, location and other varying factors. Whereas enrolment fee for this course is $30000 – $35000, depending on scent target. At the completion of this course, participants will each have their own certified scent detection dog ready to commence operations.
This course aims to train individuals (groups of four) to become Scent Detection Dog Trainers, through the raising and training of their own dog (from a litter to be nominated) under Steve’s instruction. On completion of the course, participants will have a trained and certified scent detection dog and the ability to train further dogs. To our knowledge, this has not been attempted anywhere in the world previously.
$30000 to $35000 (includes GST)
depending on target odour/s
This course is currently under construction and we are seeking expressions of interest from:
1. INDIVIDUALS interested in commencing private business operations in canine scent detection – not a franchise. Individuals might be new to the industry or already have a related business where a scent detector dog will be beneficial or, have been a dog handler/trainer and are now seeking to expand their knowledge and skills.
2. ORGANISATIONS interested in subsiding the cost of the training of scent detection dogs/handlers in the various applications, resulting in dogs being available for sub-contracting for their interests or needs. Such organisations may not have financial resources, infrastructure and officer availability to maintain their own scent detection dog programmes.
Examples: Organisations wishing to support conservation efforts for Australian wildlife and habitat; organisations seeking to increase the pool of available scent detection dogs/handlers available for their particular interest/need.
3. ORGANISATIONS AND GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENTS interested in contracting canine scent detection teams.
